The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) presented 2013 WH&LA Chairman of the Board Buck Drossart, CLM, of The Pointe Hotel & Suites and Conference Center, Minocqua, with a State Leadership Award during AH&LA’s annual Legislative Action Summit. The State Leadership Awards were created in 1998 to honor standout members in each partner state association who help implement and strengthen programs. Drossart is pictured at left with J.W. Mariott, Jr., executive chairman & chairman of the board for Mariott International Inc., who was honored with the first AH&LA Voice of the Industry Award.

Vail Brown, CMHS, vice president of global business development & marketing for STR, was also recognized at LAS for receiving the 2013 John Whitaker Award, which is presented to an outstanding Certified Master Hotel Supplier for their dedication and to innovation within the industry. Vail Brown is scheduled to speak at the 2013 Wisconsin Lodging Conference November 3-5 at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, Lake Geneva.

The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) has named WH&LA Chairman of the Board, Robert Y. Dove, Jr. of the Best Western Bridgewood Resort Hotel, Neenah a winner of the State Leadership Award for Wisconsin at the association’s annual Legislative Action Summit in March.

The State Leadership Awards, formerly known as the Most Valuable Volunteer Awards, were created in 1998 to honor standout members in each partner state association who help implement and strengthen programs. Below Dove is pictured with AH&LA Chairman John Campbell and AH&LA President, CEO Joe McInerney at the Legislative Action Summit in Washington, D.C.

us_capitolWIA members are in Washington DC this week along with hoteliers from throughout the country as part of the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s Legislative Action Summit.   With a visit to the White House yesterday afternoon and scheduled visits with Wisconsin representatives later today, WIA members will be sharing how issues such as Card Check, the importance of business travel, VGBA and US Travel & Tourism promotion funding impact Wisconsin’s lodging industry.
