The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has released the Foodborne Outbreak Online Database (FOOD), to make food outbreak surveillance data more easily available.

The FOOD tool allows users to search and download data on foodborne disease outbreaks reported to the CDC from 1998 through 2010. The database is updated periodically as new data are available. Search fields include year, state, location of consumption and etiology.

Access the FOOD tool here. Learn more about the tool here.

h1n1resourcesOver the weekend there were three cases of Swine Flu (H1N1 influenza) confirmed in Wisconsin, one in Adams county and two in Milwaukee county.  There are an additional 65 cases statewide still listed as “probable”.  At this time there are still no travel restrictions either to Wisconsin or the U.S.  None of the cases are linked to Wisconsin hotels.
For the latest information, please see this WIA web page which includes links to information on the influenza itself (through links to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention – CDC, and the World Health Organization – WHO),  news developments,  information from the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) on H1N1, messages from the Governor’s office and Wisconsin Emergency Management office, and more.
We encourage businesses to “be prepared, but not panicked”.
