“The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) is revising its Certified Lodging Security Director (CLSD) review materials and exam to include new information from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on terrorism threats and hazards and protective measures for lodging; USA PATRIOT Act information; information from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on standards important to security directors; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) information; and Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance standards affecting security.

In addition to the updated content, the format of the review materials will be revised. Candidates for the CLSD designation will now receive a Exam Preparation Booklet with their resource materials to streamline and focus their study and exam preparation more effectively. This booklet, along with a CD that includes resource materials, lets candidates assess their knowledge and experience by individual competency, and then directs them to the specific resource by volume, chapter, and subject for study and review.

For more information on the release of the updated CLSD certification materials, check out the AHLEI certification page here.  Need help with your AH&LA ID Number or not sure if you’re an AH&LA Member? Contact Denise in the WH&LA office for assistance.

The American Hotel & Lodging Association.
In 1910, there were fewer than 10,000 hotels nationwide and hoteliers worried about fraud, crooks, and deadbeats wreaking havoc on their business. Spectacular photographs and colorful anecdotes capture the lodging industry’s rich history and tell the story of how AH&LA came to be.
