Controlling energy costs in the lodging industry can lead to a boost in a property’s bottom line. Focus on Energy is helping properties lower energy costs through “Smart Strategies for Hotels,” a one-day workshop at the Hilton Garden Inn in Middleton on April 27 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Participants will learn how to understand where and how energy is used, identify energy-saving opportunities throughout their properties and develop an effective energy management plan. Topics include energy consumption benchmarking, strategies for reducing energy costs, no- and low-cost energy management tips and long-term strategies to increase energy efficiency.

The cost of the workshop is $75, which includes training materials, continental breakfast and lunch. The entire $75 fee will be reimbursed by Focus on Energy if your property implements a qualifying energy-efficiency or renewable energy project with Focus on Energy by October 31, 2010.
